Personal Practice: Handstands

I took my daily practice outside in the lush jungle gardens of Selva Armonia this morning. I love the feeling of the cool earth beneath my hands.

 

Handstands can serve as a reminder that life is about the journey, not the destination. I have been practicing handstands for years…and I’m still working on them! Some of the awesome benefits of handstands are:

  • Strengthens the shoulders, arms, and wrists

  • Stretches the belly

  • Improves sense of balance

  • Calms the brain and helps relieve stress and mild depression

  • Brings fresh, oxygenated blood to your face & head and enlivens circulation in the legs

  • Helps prevent acne, gray hair, wrinkles, & varicose veins.

  • Allows for a new perspective. Flipping upside down can flip our thinking, which can lead to more effective problem-solving skills.
